What are the different types of treatment for cervical cancer other than hysterectomy? Let say if a person does not wish to have surgery, is there an alternative treatment just as effective as hysterectomy?

There are different types of treatment for different stages of cervical cancer. Early stage of cervical cancer can be treated with loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP), cryotherapy or laser therapy. LEEP involve the use of electricity to destroy abnormal tissue, cryotherapy involves freezing abnormal cells, and laser therapy uses light to destroy abnormal tissues.
Most of the time advanced stage of cervical cancer is treated with hysterectomy because the cancer has spread to surrounding tissues. This type of treatment involves surgery and depending on how far the cancer has advanced, the operation performed may involve removing the uterus, the cervix, and the upper part of the vagina.
